Friends since the early 1980s, Ms. Heising and Ms. Lew appeared together in John Carpenter’s “Big Trouble In Little China” (with Kurt Russell) and “Forbidden Warrior”, as well as TV shows “Kung Fu: The Next Generation” (with the late Brandon Lee), “Bring ‘Em Back Alive” (with Bruce Boxleitner), “Tales Of The Gold Monkey” (with Stephen Collins), “General Hospital”, and “The Young & The Restless”. In recent years, they’ve occasionally worked the red carpet in tandem on “Eye on Entertainment” Series creator John C. Alsedek first developed the idea for “AS DARKNESS FALLS…” back in May of 2009, Mr. Alsedek explains. “I’ve always loved the anthology show format, and lament that it’s largely fallen by the wayside today. Until one day, the idea for “AS DARKNESS FALLS…” came to me- filming the shows as if they were staged radio plays. It’s a very cost-effective way of producing programs, and it has a definite retro charm about it.” Mr. Alsedek ultimately hopes to find a home for “AS DARKNESS FALLS…” either on PBS or in syndication. In related news, it was also announced that actor/record producer/musician Dino Maddalone will be starring in the November episode of AS DARKNESS FALLS…, entitled ‘The Drums Of Tcho Ktlan’. In it, Mr. Maddalone plays a 1940’s swing band drummer who steals a forbidden Far East rhythm, only to find that his theft holds the most hideous consequences. More information on Mr. Maddalone and ‘The Drums Of Tcho Ktlan’ in the coming weeks. AS DARKNESS FALLS… “AS DARKNESS FALLS...” is a hybrid TV/radio/web anthology series with a horror bent. Hosted by the inimitable Tucker Smallwood, “AS DARKNESS FALLS...” is a program a bit different from the norm. It is inspired by such classic radio fare as Arch Oboler’s “Lights Out!” and the fondly remembered “CBS Radio Mystery Theater”- shows that generated tremendous levels of suspense not through elaborate SFX, but via the human imagination. However, “AS DARKNESS FALLS...” offers something that those programs did not: a visual element. Each episode is both recorded and filmed in the studio; the video runs on the Internet and on Time Warner Channel stations throughout Southern California, while an audio-only version will be available as podcasts and on affiliate radio stations in the near future.
