Nov. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- WARDELL SAYS PRESIDENT OBAMA MUST COMMIT TO VICTORY IN AFGHANISTAN

“When Barack Obama campaigned for the presidency, he said the war in Afghanistan had to be won. Now the president is wasting precious time and jeopardizing victory by not acting on General Stanley McChrystal’s recommendation to bolster our military presence with an additional 40,000 troops. The president's indecisiveness, ostensibly because he was awaiting the Afghan presidential election result, is only emboldening the terrorists and further endangering our young men and women in harm’s way.

“Our soldiers and Marines have not wavered in places like Helmand Province and the President should not waver in executing his duties as commander-in-chief. Our mission in Afghanistan has always been clear - deny al Qaeda a base of operations and ensure the Taliban do not regain control of the government. Continued stalling shows weakness. The American military and the people they are defending here at home and in Afghanistan deserve better than this. I am appalled at the manner in which this President chooses to lead”

Wardell is a retired veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Japan and Africa with the Department of State. Wardell is married with two children.
