JKTDC busy promoting Kashmir

Nov. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- As the state’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is busy promoting Kashmir as a tourist destination in London; the state tourism department has announced several packages to attract more and more number of tourists to the state.

Reports said that the step has been taken ahead of the winter season as Kashmir is fast emerging as a winter tourism destination.

Senior officials within the tourism department claim that disregarding the winter chill tourists are flocking back to the state in large numbers. The officials say that during the recent snowfall in Gulmarg several hundred tourists made it to the tourist place.

The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation JKTDC, according to the officials is offering a bulk of packages to maintain the tourist rush. Apart from launching several new packages like Christmas Package, the JKTDC is offering a huge discount on the accommodation and travel facilities.

In fact this season the Valley is expected to receive a good number of tourist arrivals and the packages offered by the JKTDC have been devised to suit the needs of all income groups.

To make the package favorable for all the tourists, the Christmas Package has been offered which includes a Silver Package offering accommodation of three nights and four days for a couple costing them around 15000 rupees.

Similarly Gold Package with the same accommodation costs an amount of 18000 rupees to a customer, while as the Diamond Package provides the accommodation for 3 nights and 4 days and costs an amount of 28000 rupees to a couple.

“We expect that this winter season tourist arrivals to the valley will be to our expectations,” Mohammad Azim Toman, Chairman House Boat Owners Association said. He said that the valley has witnessed much calm during the past several months and the tourists are now feeling much more secure during their visit here.

“The tourist arrivals have also increased during the month of November as the fresh snowfall across the valley has attracted a large number of tourists to this place,” Toman added.
