Nov. 30, 2009 - PRLog -- Scrapbooking is the process of collating all of your memories whether it be from photographs, memorabilia, brochures, lockets of hair etc, into an album, along with a story, so that in many years to come, you or others can look back on the album and reflect on the wonderful occasions and relive the memories.

Many scrapbookers consider themselves artists and love to have the best tools available to them, to create unique and creative pages. One of the best ways to create fantastic titles and embellishments in different shapes and from different materials, is with a Die Cutting Machine for Scrapbooking.  These wonderful die cut machines have been a major advancement in a scrapbookers ability to design effective pages quickly and easily with a unique style.

On the market currently, there are two main types of scrapbooking die cut machines. There are the electronic versions which of course require power and are computerised. Then there is the manual version, which just requires a bit of muscle to cut pre designed shapes out. In the electronic range, the Cricut range of die cutting machines are the most well known and loved. They have been the innovators of much of the technology that has gone into the wonderful world of electronic die cutting, like the ability to automatically cut shapes without the need of a computer.

Of  Provocrafts Cricut range, the Cricut Expression is the top of the range of scrapbooking die cutters. With the original Cricut Personal Cutter, you were only able to cut a sheet half of 12x12inches. For scrapbookers with lots to do, this was somewhat of a pain always having to cut or having half sheets of paper around. So to meet the needs of the ever growing market for demanding scrapbookers, Provo Craft introduced the new Expression Die Cutting machine, which can now cut both 12x12 and 12x24 inch sheets.

However, given that the mat size and cutting ability of the Cricut Expression has been double and tripled, the machine size is also a lot larger. This means that it is no longer as portable as its predecessors the Cricut Personal and Cricut Create machines. So it was really designed to be kept in the one room, like a scrapbookers workshop room, or the schools media room.

The Expression has all the same great features of the original Cricut Die Cutting machine. This includes the ability to cut shapes with no computer required. There are lots of fonts and designs available in the massive cartridges selection. Also the same cartridges purchased can be used across the whole Cricut machine range. It also has the ability to cut shapes in varying sizes automatically without having to babysit the machine too much.

Unfortunately though, with the Circuit Expression also comes the sticky mat, which you either love or hate! It does have the advantage over other electronic machines like the Making Memories Slice in that it uses this sticky mat to enable the machine to cut independently without supervision. However, that doesnt mean that it is still not a pain to use!

In the hopefully near future, it would be great for Provo Craft or another scrapbooking die cutter manufacturer, to design a machine that doesnt have to be babysat, but also doesnt need the painful sticky mat. With electronic die cutters like the Expression, they really only lack the ability to be able to cut delicate sheets of paper, but this is shame as there are some beautiful sheets on the market that would look great in any scrapbook.

So if you are a die hard scrapper with money to burn!!! or you have just been frugle with your scrapbooking so you could save up for the Expression (well done!) then it is truely one of the best on the market at the moment.
