Dec. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- The official charity partner of Scotland’s first ever 5-a-side Championship, hosted by Creative Oceanic, the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign (MCAC) aims to increase awareness of how to detect the symptoms of prostate, bowel or testicular cancer in the early stages.
Men are literally dying of ignorance all over the U.K, and Mr Testicles is here to repudiate the culture of awkwardness that prevents British men, of any age, from talking about their crown jewels.
In addition, with the recent news that Celtic legend John Hartson was diagnosed with testicular cancer, this is a serious issue that we feel we can help bring to the attention of all the participating teams. Says Graham Leigh, Chairman of the MCAC: “Male Cancer Awareness Campaign is delighted to be the chosen charity for the Scottish 5-A-Side Championship. We want to reach all men with the message that many forms of male cancer are curable so there’s no reason to put off seeing the doctor. So whether it’s blood in your stool, a lump on your nuts or strange night-time toilet habits, get yourself checked because early detection saves lives.”
Patrick Cox, CEO of MCAC, added: “Mr Testicles makes his return to Glasgow. It’s been over two years, but he loves this town. 5-a-side football is great fun, and a great way to keep fit, as well as being a great way to spend time with your mates.  Mr Testicles is in town to promote the charity and the Championship, and we hope everyone can get involved, have fun, keep fit, raise money, and help us save more men lives.”
“The key message is that lads need to look after themselves and know and understand the early warning signs of male cancer. If cancer is caught and treated early it can be cured.
For more information on the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign please head to their newly designed site, www.malecancer.org, and if you would like to donate to the charity please email Patrick@malecancer.org.
If you fancy your chances at being crowned Scotland’s 5-a-side Champions 2010, you still have time to enter your team into the competition. Heats will be held in Dundee and Glasgow on the 23rd and 30th January respectively, with the final taking place on Feb 6th.
