Tiger Woods: Why He Did It From An Astrology Point of View

Dec. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- World-famous golfer Tiger Woods hit the headlines in early December when his wife, Elin Nordegren was accused of attacking him in his car.

It now turns out that Tiger has had more than a dozen mistresses and may also have had a love child, which tarnishes his carefully crafted, master sportsman and family man image.

Astrologer Elizabeth Ball of http://www.itsinthestarsonline.com explains why Tiger is going through such a troublesome phase from an astrology point of view.

"Tiger is born under Sun in Capricorn, which makes him ambitious, goal-oriented, controlling and incredibly hard-working. He has been playing and perfecting his golf since he was a tiny boy," said Elizabeth Ball.

"He has dedicated himself to being known as the greatest golfer in the world, gaining lucrative sponsorships and the love of millions of fans worldwide."

Capricorns are known for their extreme dedication, for their desire to be the best in their field and for their workaholic ways. A person's Sun sign tends to describe what they strive for and in Jungian terms, is equivalent to the ego.

"Tiger Woods has Virgo Rising (also known as an Ascendant) which explains his careful, intelligent demeanour. He seems as if he does the right thing. Your Ascendant is how you appear to others, but it is not your real self, rather an outer layer or, in Jungian terms, your superego" said Elizabeth Ball.

Tiger's Moon sign is Sagittarius. A person's Moon sign reveals what they need. Sagittarians hate being tied down to responsibility and commitment. They love freedom and adventure and the ability to do whatever they please.

"A person's Moon sign always comes out in the end - in fact, it is the Moon sign we see when someone is inebriated,' said Elizabeth Ball. "It is our id."

Tiger Woods married Elin Nordegren on 5 October 2004.

"By July 2005, Tiger was experiencing a Saturn return - the phenomenon where Saturn completes a circuit of all 12 signs to return to the sign it was in when one was born. Saturn returns are regarded as tough periods where you must take responsibility for your choices as an adult,” said Elizabeth Ball.

In May 2006, Tiger's beloved father, Earl Woods died. Pluto, which also rules death, was in Sagittarius and at that time was conjuncting his Moon.

"Your Moon rules your emotions so Tiger may have felt 'dead' to everything going on around him," said Elizabeth Ball. “It’s possible he thought, ‘Life is too short’.”

Saturn, which rules Capricorn, entered Libra, the sign of relationships and marriage on 30 October. Saturn is known as a taskmaster and he's renowned for teaching people lessons (whether they want to learn them or not).  In Libra, he will be keen to teach the real meaning of commitment.

It’s likely that problems were already brewing at home in September, when Saturn conjuncted Tiger's Virgo Ascendant, which signifies great restrictions on one's personal goals. When Saturn opposed Uranus, the planet of upheavals on 15 September, the issues of restraint vs freedom, responsibility vs independence would have started to rumble in their household.

"On 2 December, Uranus went direct after a five-month period of being in retrograde motion. When planets go direct they create a surge of energy in a particular area. Currently, Uranus is transiting Tiger's seventh house of relationships so when it went direct, a shock event was due to occur, first of which was the car accident," said Elizabeth Ball. “The bigger shock of course to his wife, and the public, was all of his infidelities.”

But more is to come.

Pluto, the planet of transformation, has begun a conjunction with his Sun (what he strives for in life). Pluto is known as the great muckraker. Pluto rules Scorpio which rules sex and Tiger has recently admitted to being a sex addict. Everything Pluto touches it transforms.

“Pluto may well help strip away his sponsorships and public standing. It has certainly revealed the truth behind his pristine image,” said Elizabeth Ball.

More scandal is due in the next two years. By October 2012, transiting Saturn in Scorpio will be squaring Tiger's natal Saturn in Leo which could make him feel very trapped indeed. Transiting Saturn in Scorpio will be in his second house of income so it’s likely that he may be punished financially, by Elin and/or his sponsors.

At the same time, transiting Pluto in Capricorn will square Tiger's natal Pluto in Libra which suggests enormous turmoil. Pluto is regarded as the phoenix of the zodiac – destroying things in order to rebuild them. As well, transiting Uranus in Aries will be squaring his natal Sun so his restlessness and urge to run away from responsibility will be extreme.

"Within two years, Tiger Woods will be a very different man. But I think that once the shock and disappointment has subsided, it will actually be a real release for him, to be seen as he really is. He won't be the last person to commit 'transgressions' by any means, but I think the very public humiliation he is suffering right now might make others think twice about damaging their relationships," said Elizabeth Ball.
