Missouri State University Graduate finds Success in Web Design

After graduation from MSU, he went on to complete graduate studies at San Jose State University. But he says that the education he received at MSU was pivotal to future success.

"I took such a variety of classes at Missouri State, from advertising, to marketing, to journalism, and even art and film. It made me a well-rounded person and the web design business really wouldn't have been possible without this education."

While Dean never took any web development courses at Missouri State, he says that he learned so many other skills that have made his success possible. "For example, I learned the ins and outs of Photoshop and Illustrator from print advertising courses," Dean says. "I learned how to use publishing software in print journalism courses and I learned marketing and selling techniques from the incredible professors in the business department. It was the foundation for everything. I owe a whole lot to the University."

While attending San Jose State University, Dean built upon these skills by taking graduate courses in web development, information organization, and other areas en route to a Master's in Library and Information Science. It was while attending SJSU that he began Digital Stax Web Design. "Business was slow and I went through some rough patches early on. But I knew that if I stuck it out the web design business would take off eventually. Now things are moving in the right direction and I'm really excited about our newest web design project."

Dean has taken his experience working with web design clients and applied it to the creation of a web interface for client communication.
