Glasgow’s Green Santa

Does your community have a green wish list this Christmas?
By: Creative Oceanic

Dec. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- Our jolly Green Santa is closely related to everyone’s beloved Saint Nicholas. Growing up in the North Pole together, the two chums both decided they wanted to help the children of the world. But in slightly different ways.

Glasgow’s Green Santa is looking to make our city a little greener by planting trees, scrubs and flowers. But Green Santa needs your help to find the spots in Glasgow most in need of some extra greenery.

To help Green Santa, and help make Glasgow a little greener, all you have to do is write your green wish list and send it to Green Santa!

Green Santa would not be able to make Glasgow a little greener without the help of his elves.

Green Santa’s Green Elves work with Santa, helping to fund, and root in the ground, the trees and plants.

Jury’s Inn Glasgow and the Green Group have hitched their sleighs together to help Glasgow’s Green Santa deliver your communities’ green wish list.

Naveed Raja, Founding Director of the Green Group said: “The Green Group, as the name suggests, has ‘sustainability’ and ‘environmentally friendly’ on the brain. We strive to be as green as can be; where we falter today we have clear plans for tomorrow to improve our green credentials further.

“Green Santa is a great opportunity for our Glasgow born and bred businesses to engage positively with our community and make Glasgow a wee bit greener at the same time.”

Paul Bray, GM of Jury’s Inn Glasgow said: “Glasgow’s Green Santa is a great fun festive way of helping Glasgow become a little greener, we are delighted to be involved in this initiative. Jurys Inns is committed to being as green as possible both nationally and on a local level. Jurys Inns is set to be the UK’s greenest hotel group by becoming the first in the UK to have all its 29 UK and Ireland ‘exceptional everyday’ city centre hotels awarded either a gold or silver award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS).”

Glasgow’s Green Santa transport: When Green Santa is not in Green Clean’s bio-diesel van he gets a lift from Free Wheel North, Glasgow’s rickshaw service. The pedal powered taxis are the "gondolas" of Glasgow and will take you to any destination in the city centre. W: http://www.freewheelnorth.org.uk/ T: Norman Armstrong 07891097936
