Dec. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- The holiday season is always an exciting time around here, but this year, our Key West Christmas is better than ever.  Why?  This year the holiday spirit can be felt everywhere, from the charter fishing boats to the streets of Old Town, everyone is gearing up for Christmas and New Year's as well.  And there's something else making the air sizzle with energy and excitement: Kiteboarding.  It's also Kiteboarding season, and Discovering Florida Keys is here to let the public know: Kiteboarding and the Holidays make the perfect Key West vacation.

Kiteboarding is a Holiday thing around here- Key West's weather patterns dictate stronger wind in colder months.  The more wind, the better the kiteboarding will be.  Your ride is powered by the wind, and if you're in town for the Holidays or New Year's, you're just in time for the windy season to begin.  December up through April is the windiest, but the Holiday season is the start of the excitement, and there's not a better time to be in Key West.  The Key West section at http://www.discoveringfloridakeys.com/key_west.html tells you all you need to know, so check it out before you go.  They've got Key West history, info on tours, Dry Tortugas, and all the favorite water sports and fishing charters for which Key West is so famous.

But it's the newest water sport that has peopele in a holiday-inspired frenzy of excitement.  It's great in Key West at this time of year, and the idea of a thrilling day of kiteboarding before heading out ot view the Key West Lighted Boat Parade, for example, forms the basis of the perfect vacation.  "We've always traveled during the holidays, but this year it's a Key West Christmas for us!"  says Julie McCorman, mother of two teenagers.  "My kids are getting ready for their first kiteboarding lessons, while my husband and I can't wait for the Key West Christmas Parade!" she says, with a twinkle in her eye.  Ms. McCorman came up with the idea after exploring tropical holiday vacation ideas at www.discoveringfloridakeys.com/key_west.html.  Kiteboarding was the major draw for her kids, while the Key West tradition of really celebrating the holidays with lots of flare enticed her and her husband to make the decision.  There's just so much to do!

Kiteboarding lessons are available in Key West, where beginners can start out in shallow flats waters where the waters are calmer.  Lessons are given in no more than three feet of water, right on a sandbar, so safety is number one at all times.  For more information on Key West kiteboarding and spending the Holidays in Key West, visit www.discoveringfloridakeys.com/key_west.html
