World As I Der See It! Wins “Best Blogger to Follow” in Mashable Open Web Awards 2009

Dec. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Reading, PA – Derek Michael Sheldon, publisher and writer of World As I Der See It!, announced today that his blog won Mashable’s 3rd Annual Open Web Awards: Social Media Edition for “Best Blogger to Follow.” The announcement followed yesterday’s notification by Tamar Weinberg, Community and Marketing Director at Mashable.com, that the music-oriented site won the prize.

The Mashable Open Web Awards are an international online voting competition covering major innovations in web technology and social media achievements. Previous winners include Facebook, Pandora, iGoogle, Google Maps, Digg, Mahalo, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, ShareThis and Evernote.

Mashable, a popular social media site, received over 440,000 nominations comprising over 70,000 nominees and over 780,000 final votes in this year’s competition. Fifty categories included new themes to reflect the evolution of web culture since 2008.

Sheldon was born in Reading, PA. He graduated from Fleetwood Area High School and pursued a BA in music and psychology from Albright College and the University of Southern California.
