Dec. 21, 2009 - PRLog -- Famous watch brands such as Breitling, Tag Heuer and Omega spend millions on marketing, advertising and high profile sponsorships and celebrity endorsements. Marketing is of course an important part of any business, but when the cost of it runs to several times the cost of the product, as is often the case in the luxury watch industry, it’s the consumer who ends up with a watch that tells the time but with very little value-for-money.

The traditional Swiss brands are sold through third party retailers. This means that the wholesale prices, that include those inflated marketing costs, are then doubled by the retailer before the final price tag is attached.

A small watchmaker in England, Christopher Ward, is turning this outdated business model upside down and in doing so they have made it possible for people to enjoy the pleasure associated with owning and wearing a truly luxurious, premium quality Swiss movement watch, at an affordable price.

Instead of huge spending on marketing and depending on retailers to sell their watches, Christopher Ward’s approach is different. They offer their watches directly to customers through their website and over the phone through a customer services team that understand watches and what customers are looking for when they buy one.

Their passionate belief in honest pricing means that the selling price of a Christopher Ward watch is between two and three times their base manufacturing price, compared to the luxury watch industry average of ten times manufacturing cost and sometimes as much as thirty times manufacturing cost!

This doesn’t mean that the watch you end up buying is inferior in any way. The mechanical part of the watch is still Swiss made and the same loving care and attention to detail has gone into the design and creation of the watchcase and the watch face, as in a designer watch.

Already Christopher Ward http://www.christopherward.co.uk watches have a following from watch aficionados and a number of loyal customers who collect their watches. You don’t have to start a collection to enjoy their watches though, just try one of their men’s watches or ladies watches to start with and compare it with what you are wearing now.

From the quiet sophistication of their dress watches to the subtle confidence of their sports collections there is a timeless, understated quality reflected in a Christopher Ward watch which owes much to its English roots.

Designed at their studio in Berkshire, England, with meticulous attention to every detail, it takes thousands of hours to complete the design of one of Christopher Ward's watches, but then nothing of real value is ever produced quickly.
