Follow on Google News | Little Boy has his Wish Come TrueA young boy with a life-threatening illness gets his wish to visit Florida theme parks granted by national charity Kids Wish Network.
When Mason was 3-months-old, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Lennox Gaustaut Syndrome. CP is a condition in which the brain does not communicate with the muscles in the body, and Lennox Gaustaut is a form of childhood epilepsy. These illnesses cause Mason to have uncontrollable seizures. The now 12-year-old boy has up to 20 seizures a day and wears braces on both legs. While at the hospital for treatment, Mason’s mother, Brandi, was informed that Mason could possibly qualify for a wish through Kids Wish Network. Brandi decided to do some research and ended up referring her son for a wish. Before long, Brandi was on the phone with Vanessa – Mason’s Wish Coordinator – making plans to see her son’s wish come true. It didn’t take long for Vanessa to figure out that Mason’s one wish was to visit the Florida theme parks. “Mason has a VHS tape that he has had since he was a less than 2-year-old that is a sing along that he can just watch all day long that he loves,” Brandi said. “I think that is what made him choose this for his wish.” With help from Wish Funding Specialist Doris, Vanessa set up an itinerary for Mason and his family. Flights, hotel stay, various dining arrangements, theme park tickets, a trip to hands-on museum Wonderworks and even spending money was arranged for the trip. Brandi said that everything was wonderful. “Everything was so well planned out. You could really tell that Vanessa loves her job. Mason was so excited. Everything was great,” she said. For Mason, Brandi said that the best part for him was the time they had at The Magic Kingdom and Wonderworks. “He loved the characters and the rides and the lights on the castle and the fireworks,” she said. “And he really liked Wonderworks. They have this little room that is like a disco room that plays music and you dance in front of this big screen that shows your figure in rainbow colors whenever you’re dancing.” The four-night-five- “Seeing how happy he was has been the best part of this experience for me,” she said tearfully. “Thank you so much.” Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Mason’s wish extra special: American Legion Woodland Post 305, The Royal Plaza Hotel, Pirates Dinner Theatre, Bennigan’s, CiCi’s Pizza, Wonderworks, Compassion Partners Kids Wish Network is a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children.
