Mineral Point, Wisconsin Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 Ghost Hunting 101 $99 plus tax per person *Rooms will be available at a discounted rate, but are LIMITED in quantity!!!* Located in Mineral Point, in the southwestern corner of Wisconsin, The Walker House is one of the oldest inns in the state. Built in 1836, the Inn served a variety of people throughout the years: Miners, gamblers, locals, tourists, patrons and employees of the railroad. The dining rooms have also been the setting for community meetings, events and other activities. The Inn was in continuous use until 1957, when it closed its doors for 7 years, standing vacant. After a few owners came and left, in 2003 The Walker House became one of the top 10 historical structures put on the endangered list in Wisconsin. In November, 2005, the Inn was purchased by Joseph and Susan Dickinson, who have been dedicated ever since to bring the Inn back to life. Two known entities have been seen and heard since the first renovation and restoration in 1964, though other entities have been reported by various guests throughout the years. A male entity dressed in a minor's attire of the 1800's has been seen puttering around the pub area on the first floor, as has the reported ghost of William Caffee, a man who in life, had a hot and feisty temperament. In 1842, Mr. Caffee was found guilty of murder after shooting and killing another man in the heat of an argument, and was sentenced to die by hanging. Wearing a grey suit to be buried in, the story goes that he sat on top his coffin as he was on his way to his hanging, beating out the tune of a funeral march with empty beer bottles. William appears to the living, wearing his wrinkled gray suit, both headless and with his head in several areas of the Inn. Mr. Caffee has also been blamed for paranormal activity in the dining rooms, including flying glasses, plates, silverware, and moving chairs. Guests have reported hearing him shuffle up and down the second floor, breathing heavily and making different noises. Other reports include him appearing on the back porch, sitting on a bench without his head and turning door handles without opening any doors. Our Ghost Hunter University event begins at 4:00pm on Saturday, January 23rd, with our nationally acclaimed Ghost Hunting 101 seminar. This seminar covers the basics of ghost hunting, from ghost hunting protocol, to equipment used in the field, to definitions and examples of positive and negative evidence. Following this seminar, a dinner break is given, and we reconvene back at The Walker House for a haunted history lesson of the Inn. The highlight of the evening is the interactive paranormal investigation of the property which follows, and the night is completed with an evidence sharing and wrap-up session after the investigation.
