Charity Row across Atlantic - rowing for 40 days and 40 nights!!

Jan. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Marketing Recruitment Agency Brand Recruitment are delighted to lend their support to student Pedro Cunha who is set to undertake a gruelling challenge to raise funds for local charity ‘East Anglia Children’s Hospice’.

The Trinity College PhD student is currently preparing to be part of the first six-person crew to row across the Atlantic. The 3300 mile journey from Morocco to Barbados will take approximately forty days with three people rowing at all times in a rotating two-hour shift pattern. The row has been planned to make the most of favourable trade winds and avoid the hurricane season, yet with inclement weather on both sides of the Atlantic at present, fingers are crossed for conditions to improve before the expedition sets off in the next few days.

Pedro will be well prepared for the row. With two and a half years’ experience in the Swedish Armed forces where he trained extensively in survival/endurance techniques including cold weather training, long distance cross country skiing with a sled, ice swimming, emergency survival training and food/sleep deprivation (one time going 8 days without food while marching 210km). Pedro has also completed the DanCon Death March: 100km in 24 hours!! Pedro is therefore well hardened for the impending swells and winds of the Atlantic in January!
