Jan. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Star Cinema’s entry to the 35th Metro Manila Film Festival, I Love You, Goodbye, won four awards last December and placed third in box-office returns, proving that a quality drama with a PG-13 rating can beat the usual comedic, fantasy and horror films with general patronage ratings at the biggest annual film festival in the Philippines.

I Love You, Goodbye won the following awards: 2nd Best Picture (Star Cinema), Best Original Story (Vanessa Valdez, Kriz Gazmen and Karen Ramos); Best Cinematography (Lee Meily) and Best Film Editor (Manet Dayrit).

I Love You, Goodbye is the comeback film after a five-year absence of the much acclaimed director, Laurice Guillen, the genius behind Filipino cinema classics like Kasal, Salome, Init sa Magdamag, Santa-Santita and Tanging Yaman.  I Love You, Goodbye stars what is probably the current best mix of RP’s most interesting actors: hot matinee idol on a comeback Gabby Concepcion, sexy and versatile leading lady Angelica Panganiban, in-demand actor-model Derek Ramsay and RP’s top teenage star Kim Chiu.

“We had no doubt at all that I Love You, Goodbye will do good at MMFF 2009 because of director Laurice Guillen, the solid cast and crew, and the film’s very real and touching story and characters,” said Kerwin Du, ABS-CBN International’s Head of Theatricals. “Here in the U.S., we’ve had a great start this year with the film’s very successful theatrical run from January 1-7 at UA Stonestown Twin in San Francisco.  We are very hopeful that it would also do well in its next leg in six more cities.”
