Is Google Scamming The Whole Nation?

Jan. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- You may have seen the ads in Online version of The Washington Post: "Kelly Richards from [Your Hometown Here] makes $5000 per month with Google," or maybe you received an e-mail from a friend (whose e-mail account was probably compromised) telling you about this "cool web site, explaining how to make $200 - $300 a day working for Google."

To put it in a nut-shell, here is somebody at work who uses the good reputation (and the logo) of a company like Google, who, apparently, is not aware of the scheme. These businesses are not related (in any shape or form) to the search engine giant.

Wilfried F. Voss, who runs an article series on the topic on his blog at http://www.frogenyozurt.com, says: "So far I have detected two instances of the same scheme, and I am sure there are more. One is the 'Google Profit Library', who is apparently not related in any way to the Google search engine business or any other Google business lines. The other one is a web site called workfromhomenews.info that leaves the impression they have been endorsed by the Newsweek magazine, Larry King, and others. They even use terms such as 'Work at home for Google' or 'Get Google cash at home.' From a legal standpoint they may be allowed to use such wording, since they never imply you will work for Google directly, but the statements are, to put it diplomatically, seriously misleading."

According to Mr. Voss, an initial 7-day trial costs only a few Dollars, and the monthly fee is set around $50 with a sign-up fee of roughly $100.

"The initial costs," he says, "are apparently used to obtain your credit card information. After that it can be extremely difficult to cancel the service in time. The terms and conditions are usually very specific and don't allow much room for the subscriber."

Mr. Voss continues, "I can only encourage everybody to read the terms and conditions very carefully. On the other hand, running my own blog and web sites, I know how difficult it is to make money from your web site. There is no sure path to riches for everybody who runs a blog or web site."
