Natural Balance Float Makes Guiness World Book of Records

Jan. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- (Animal Radio® Newsroom - Los Angeles) Each New Year's Day the world focuses its attention on Pasadena, California, U.S.A., home of the Rose Parade®. It's a celebration more than a century old - a festival of flowers, music and sports unequaled anywhere in the world.

This year at the 121st Tournament of Roses Parade®, Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance pet food made a big splash with snowboarding dogs careening down a 60 foot slope, complete with Gondola.

Not only was this float fun to watch but also was one for the record books. Danny Girton Jr, an official from Guinness World Records, measured and determined the entry to be the longest single chassis parade float.

Nervous on-watchers cheered as the 113 foot float turned onto Colorado Blvd, more than a 90 degree turn, a feat few thought might not happen. The biggest hurdle wasn't training the dogs, but maneuvering the float through the parade route! Natural Balance President, Joey Herrick (John Davidson Show Band Drummer) told Animal Radio® Executive Producer Judy Francis "our biggest fear is turning the corners - so we've made some practice runs."

The float was made of coconuts, olive pits, corn husks and was created by Fiesta Parade Floats, a float-builder that also constructs props for television commercials, feature films, exhibits and theme parks. Inside sources say that Natural Balance is already working on something bigger and better for 2011.
