Jan. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Since its inception at the turn of the century, the Eric Hoffer Award, named after the great American philosopher, has a tradition of honoring books from small, academic, and independent publishers, including outstanding self-publishers. Winners traditionally come from around the world, including special honors such as the Montaigne Medal for most thought-provoking books.

This year, the Hoffer Award introduces the da Vinci Eye for best cover artwork. “The Hoffer encompasses the entire book experience,” said Chair, Christopher Klim. Klim, the author of several novels, conceived the award to honor books from smaller presses that are often overshadowed within the industry. “Hoffer was a renaissance man, not unlike da Vinci. Like the Montaigne (medal), we think that the da Vinci honor is a perfect fit.”

The Eric Hoffer Award announces winners in the spring of each year. The deadline for submission is January 21st of each year.
