TaylorMade R9 Steel Shaft Iron with bottom price $469

The TaylorMade R9 irons look great and are ideal for golfers in the 5 to 15 handicap range. The oversize heads sit well behind the ball without the top line looking too chunky so you get lots of forgiveness.

Taylormade R9 Irons
The TaylorMade R9 irons feature a KBS steel shaft and each club conforms with the groove rules that are being introduced for top players in 2010.

The R9 features a dual head design made for both performance and control. the 3-5 irons feature a high repulsion face with hollow cavity structure for increased distance. The 6-Wedge feature a more compact undercut pocket cavity with a focus on feel, control and accuracy. The R9 features variable face thickness. Starting with 2.0mm thick face in the long irons to 2.3mm in the mid irons and 2.5mm in the short irons for enhanced feel. Taylormade R9 Irons
Taylormade utilizes its inverted cone technology to expand the sweet area reducing overall loss on off center hits. The multifunctional sole is versatile and made to excel in any lie. The new R9 has traditional lofts with a 27.5* 5 iron and is considered between mid and compact size with less offset. The new grooves are USGA/R&A Conforming.
The R9 is available with either Nippon NS Pro 950GH or Dynamic Gold as standard shaft. Japanese spec lightweight Motore 60 graphite is also available as an upcharge.
The new R9 Iron begins shipping mid September 2009 so any orders before that will be considered pre orders.

The TaylorMade R9 irons look great and are ideal for golfers in the 5 to 15 handicap range. The oversize heads sit well behind the ball without the top line looking too chunky so you get lots of forgiveness. However they also give very good feel for this class of iron and still have a 'players' feel about them.
Compared to the TP version, the standard TaylorMade R9 irons have a little more offset and a slightly wider sole, although the grind on the back of the sole that goes around the head makes them look smaller than they are. The grind also helps the ball through impact and the R9s were very impressive from lush and bare lies with the right amount of bounce. As you would expect the trajectory was a little higher than the TP irons thanks to the weight in the sole being a little further back and we should commend TaylorMade on hiding this from you at address. We are not over enthusiatic about the KBS shaft so try before you buy, but with TaylorMade's excellent custom fitting service you should be able to get the right shaft for your R9 irons.
