Kentucky Arts Council provides accessibility consulting services

Jan. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky Arts Council offers free accessibility assessments to Kentucky arts organizations in areas of programming, services and physical space through a partnership with the Kentucky Center for Performing Arts, Access Services.

Staff from the Kentucky Center's Access Services will conduct a site visit and provide an individualized assessment, focusing on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), technology and equipment usage, marketing and promotional enhancement and opportunities for arts programming for people with disabilities.

The Kentucky Center's Access Services has garnered many awards, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Excellence in Accessibility Leadership Award and the MetLife / Arts Presenters Award for Excellence in Arts Access.

"We are very pleased to continue our partnership with the Kentucky Center's Access Services to help make the arts accessible to all Kentuckians," said Kentucky Arts Council Executive Director Lori Meadows. "These site visits and resulting recommendations can be very helpful in moving accessibility from a compliance issue to a way to increase participation in the arts throughout the state."
