Premier Timeshare Solutions (PTS) out of West Palm Beach, Florida, a timeshare resale company, has received the lowest possible Better Business Bureau rating after receiving several complaints over the past three years regarding their selling practices. The summary of the nearly 200 complaints allege that PTS uses telemarketing techniques to convince desperate consumers that their properties have already been sold in order to collect the listing fees adding up to over $2,500 when in fact no buyers have been found. Specifically, PTS was reported to the BBB in December of 2009 by a consumer out of Nebraska who lost nearly $8,000 in listing fees from the apparent sales of timeshares he owned in Branson, MO and Las Vegas, NV. The consumer was told that his properties had sold but subsequently never received closing documentation or any requests for deeds to the properties; though he had already paid the upfront costs after deciding to trust the company without checking them out first through the BBB. The BBB referred the consumer to dispute the charges with his credit card company. Certain steps can be taken to avoid similar situations for other consumers. The BBB warns consumers to read all fine print before signing any contracts with third party timeshare resale companies. Additionally, consumers should have a primary understanding of the business practices of the company with which they are listing their properties. Special attention should be paid to the listing locations as well as the criteria used by the company for matching potential buyers with the listed properties. Timeshare owners are advised to beware of any listing company that charges an upfront fee for their service. According to the Attorney General of Florida, as well as common real-estate practice, fees paid to real-estate brokers or listing companies are generally paid from the proceed of the sale at the time of the sale as opposed to an up-front cost to the seller. Consumers are also advised to research the credentials of the representatives processing their sales, paying special attention to whether or not they hold a real estate license. Consumers are warned to report any similar business practices to the Better Business Bureau through their website at www.bbb.org and to remember that if it seems "to good to be true," it probably is. # # # Safe Hands Transfers was founded by Keith & Yvonne to assist families with their timeshare burdens.
