On The Cutting Edge of Eco-Technology

BOB-CAT Introduces 2011 Exhaust Emission Compliant Mower Line for 2010

Feb. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Mower enthusiasts can breathe a lot easier, sooner, as BOB-CAT reaches goal of 2011 EPA exhaust emission engine compliance throughout their mower line. The longstanding BOB-CAT line of commercial and residential walk-behind and zero-turn riding mowers have long been known as “green machines”. This year, through advanced engine technology that includes new Kawasaki FX & FS Series engines as well as units that feature digital fuel injection and propane-power offerings, the line will truly live up to that designation.

“We had the option, like many mower OEM’s, to tier-in 2011 exhaust emission compliant engines over the next year, but we felt strongly that should quality 2011 exhaust emission compliant engine technologies become available to us in 2009 that we could reach our goal of being 2011 exhaust emission compliant by the end of the year,” stated BOB-CAT Product Manager, Tony Weber of the decision to take on a nearly full-line engine transition in 2009. “Proudly, we reached our goal in December.”

Being 2011 exhaust emission compliant was first and foremost, but lowering engine emissions was not BOB-CAT’s only objective. The design of the new Kawasaki FX and FS Series engines also offer enhanced fuel economy (through the use of Hemispherical Combustion Chambers and V-Valve technology), better cooling, lower engine noise, and more horsepower over their FH and KAI predecessors. BOB-CAT will also introduce two new eco-smart units this season. The new Predator-Pro 37hp DFI, with digital fuel injection, will provide an increase in fuel economy of up to 30% while significantly increasing engine performance through an Electronic Governor or E-Gov for short. The increase in performance comes from the engines ability to adjust to load conditions without RPM loss resulting in instantaneous power on demand. This equates to both increased performance and substantial fuel economy. Predator-Pro DFI units are in production now and will be available in 61- and 72-inch deck sizes. Also coming soon to the Predator-Pro line is the new 30hp LP-61 (liquid propane-powered) zero-turn riding mower. The LP-61 is a no-hassle propane-powered unit that features a 30hp Generac 990 propane engine that utilizes liquid withdrawal, using the same common liquid withdrawal propane tanks and technology that propane forklift trucks use, which gives customers instant access to a readily available fuel source and replenishment system. Units will come with choice of a 61-inch side discharge deck or new 61-inch rear discharge deck.
