Direct marketing is where “producers” What types of Direct Marketing are there? 1. Direct Mail This has many advantages, but also comes with greater disadvantages. Advantages include; being geographic, demographic, tangible. It offers the service of being able to to be read and transferred to other people, as well as be able to blitz an area all in one go. However, disadvantages include it being regarded as junk mail and being thrown out straight away. It is not audio, which means that there is no interaction and it can’t answer questions. It can also prove to be very expensive. 2. Telemarketing Again very similar to Direct Mail in terms of advantages and disadvantages. It is geographic, and enables you to hit certain demographics in large volume. Feedback is also possible with leads, and it offers the ability for personalisation. However it does have hang ups which are not tangible and it is not visual. A “Telephone Preference List” has been passed by government which states that you cannot call lists. Face to Face Promotional Advertising Why are we in business? Because everyone needs to advertise to grow. TV offers name recognition. They need to advertise on a mass media scale to keep the company name recognition and to help gain market. With high competition, you have to use incentive programs to pull people through the door, i.e. Car Companies offer: No money down, cash back, low APR.
