Southern Senior to Debut Unprecedented Performance

New Haven, CT — Chad A. Carino, a graduating senior at Southern Connecticut State University, will present a multidisciplinary work in Garner Recital Hall at SSCSU for both students and the general public on April 8th and 9th at 7PM.

March 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Chad A. Carino will present the two parts of The Sophism of Canvas, "Ernie Botts and the Miseries Presents Precious-Little's Pretty Insanity: The Final Exhibition of Chad A. Carino," and "Rotting Remains of a Thief" in two venues tailored to his ambitious brand of multi-disciplinary artwork. A project of this scope has never been attempted by a student of this institution, and the performance promises to be a mind-bending, multi-sensory treat. After presenting a proposal to the Art department in the fall, Chad A. Carino was given permission to pursue this large-scale project to fulfill his remaining credit obligations; this unprecedented allowance has given him the freedom to write and perform an entire rock opera, paint a series of massive and monumental backlit watercolors, create sculptures, installation, animation, and video content to transform two separate spaces, and recruit actors to perform a scripted performance piece that communes every element. The project explores the dual themes of commercialism and politicization of art using the motif of an artist's mortality. Tickets will be available for "Pretty Insanity" March 22nd by calling 203-684-7364. Seating is limited, so call early for the best opportunity to explore the darkest reaches of this award-winning artist's psyche in a performance that is destined to change forever how you view art.

Chad A. Carino has been working as a painter for eight years in both Connecticut and New York. His work has won many juried shows and contests, and has been shown in galleries in both states. He has also worked in both film and music for the past ten years. He enrolled at SCSU to complete his degree in Studio Art in 2008, and will return to New York City to continue his studies in Art at the graduate level.

The Sophism of Canvas is a multidisciplinary performance artwork that will be performed for a limited engagement at Southern Connecticut State University for the benefit of the greater community. It explores commercialism and politicization of art with biting satire, psychological exploration, catchy music, and, of course, traditional artwork.
