Destinations Not Positioned To Capture Resurging U.S. Travel Market

National Tourist Office Destinations and Suppliers fail to identify niche markets and pent up demand

March 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Cornwall-On-Hudson, New York – K2 Global Communications LLC hosted an invitation only lunch symposium with tourism and travel professionals in Soho, New York City today to highlight for attendees their position in relation to the coming resurgence in the U.S. Travel Market.

“Surprisingly many overseas destinations have not positioned themselves to capture the larger share of the resurging U.S. Business and Leisure Travel Markets.  This includes many of the airline, hotel and other suppliers,” said Gregory Kelly, CEO, K2 Global Communications LLC.  “Their focus on general tourism over specialty or niche travel segments also points to shortcomings in their strategic planning process and outcome.  We have seen in the past tourism offices promoting specialty travel with little relevance to the market they were operating in.”

Mr. Kelly also presented the direct marketing to the consumer to create the demand over the archaic marketing emphasis on travel professionals.  The consumer creates the demand that the travel professionals sell.  If a consumer wants to travel to Korea, that is what the travel agent or tour operator sells.  They do not try to sell Japan or China instead because they want to make the sale.

Destination and supplier tourism enhancement will benefit directly from our global experience, expertise and highly regarded reputations in their respective fields of international relations, economic development, tourism, media relations, culture and the culinary arts.  National economies will benefit directly by increasing tourism.

K2 Global Communications LLC, who’s CEO, Greg Kelly, a former congressional staff member, is a full service public relations firm whose practice and experience in global affairs is built upon its network of highly proficient professionals specializing in Tourism, Marketing/Advertising, Economic Development, Culinary Arts, and Culture.
