March 15, 2010 - PRLog -- The England and AC Milan midfielder who got injured by himself soon realized the severity of the situation, as he tried to nurse his left heel (See Video on website).

According to a journalist from Sky Sports who was next to the pitch, Beckham yelled “it’s broken, it’s broken.” This is an enormous blow to the England international, who had returned to Italy on loan from LA Galaxy, to try and secure a place amongst Fabio Capello’s England squad, in what would have been at age 34, his farewell to international football.

David Beckham may miss World Cup

The injury in yesterday’s clash between AC Milan and Chievo happened just three minutes before the end of the game, David Beckham said he hoped for a “rapid and complete recovery” from the torn Achilles tendon. Beckham’s message was published in his official website. In the message, the 34-year-old announced that he is on his way to Finland to see a specialist and get tested for the injury, and thanked all who had sent messages of support.

The player is in serious danger of missing the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, from 11 June to 11 July. Although it is still impossible to accurately predict the recovery time, England manager Fabio Capello has admitted that the player will probably be absent from South Africa.

Beckham operated successfully

The England international footballer was operated successfully on Monday, to a total rupture of the Achilles tendon in his left foot in Turku, Finland, said the doctor responsible for the operation, Dr. Sakari Orava of Finland.

According to the Doctor, the operation on Beckham’s foot took 50 minutes, as the Achilles tendon was completely torn. Dr. Sakari also said that the footballer is recovering well from the intervention and should leave the clinic on Wednesday.

Sakari Orava is one of the world’s top specialists of muscle surgery and has already operated on players like Marco Van Basten, Josep Guardiola, and David Trezeguet.
