Mr Testicles & 5-A-Side Football Championship Hope To Open Men’s Eyes To Cancer

March 16, 2010 - PRLog -- The three day event will kick off in Dundee on Saturday May 29th with Glasgow’s regional heat the following Saturday, June 5th.  Each of the heats will be taking place in their cities respective SoccerWorld indoor centres with the grand final in Glasgow on Sunday 6th of June.

So while the event should prove to be a great time for all involved it also serves to highlight the work of MCAC. In the UK alone over 147,000 cases of male cancers were diagnosed in 2006 with over 35,500 cases of prostate cancer, 20,400 cases of bowel cancer and around 2000 cases of testicular cancer.  Yet many men will find the idea of getting tested for any of these life threatening diseases extremely embarrassing and because of this even put off seeking medical attention which in the long run could endanger their lives.

Glasgow based, Creative Oceanic and The Male Cancer Awareness Campaign (MCAC) have teamed up to front the new championship in the hopes of increasing knowledge and detetction of the early stages of cancer.

MCAC hopes to combat this with their entertaining champions – Mr Testicles, James Bum 002 and Near Naked man by not only raising awareness of male cancers and their early symptoms but attacking the culture of embarrassment that discourages men from seeking medical attention or even discussing issues related to these parts of the body. Graham Leigh, Chairman of the MCAC has said “Male Cancer Awareness Campaign is delighted to be the chosen charity for the Scottish 5-A-Side Championship. We want to reach all men with the message that many forms of male cancer are curable so there’s no reason to put off seeing the doctor. So whether it’s blood in your stool, a lump on your nuts or strange night-time toilet habits, get yourself checked because early detection saves lives.”
