By: Iana Dealey Apex, N.C. -- Sunday, April 4, 2010 will mark two celebrations on one special day, as the Greek Orthodox Easter holiday falls on the same day as Easter Sunday this year. XIOS (pronounced Khi-os) Authentic Greek Cuisine on Highway 55 in Apex will host a double Easter celebration with fun for the whole family, including kid’s activities, roasting a lamb on an open spit, and traditional Greek Easter bread, “tsoureki.” The kid’s festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. with the magic of Michael Casey, and “Cotton the Clown” making balloon animals, face painting, and digging for eggs in the Easter egg barrel dig. Starting at 3:00 p.m. enjoy live music from “The Parea,” playing traditional Greek folk music with a mix of Nisiotika and Smyrneika played on laouto, violi, clarino, and sandouri. The full Sunday menu and traditional Sunday brunch will be served, along with additional specials including lamb chops and roast leg of lamb starting after 3 p.m. when the lamb comes off the spit. The lamb orders will be taken on a first come basis, so no reservations are necessary.
