Follow on Google News | Las Vegas Now Has True Green Wedding and Event Services.Green event services now accessible in Las Vegas, from weddings to conferences. No greenwashing, actual implementation of green including indoor air quality issues addressed.
The National Toxic Encephalopathy Foundation (NTEF) applauds their marketing campaigns, but, do not endorse these so called green properties for being truly green. In their concerted efforts to appeal to green visitors they use the term green, but, they do not truly exemplify green overall. Hotels are actually discrediting their green marketing claims, especially those properties that permeate the indoor environments with ‘designer’ Las Vegas has a myriad of wedding options but, there are no green, chemical and fragrance free wedding or event services. The NTEF has now expanded their services to assist visitors in creating safer, non-chemically laden functions. With all the coverage on the health risks associated with fragrances, chemicals, Las Vegas now has options for green minded visitors, conferences and wedding options. There are no consultants, lodging or businesses in Clark County, Nevada that are qualified to implement true green, environmentally and chemically neutral weddings, services or events. No matter how many businesses extol green and environmental awareness, they still are what the NTEF’s considers problematic, with asthma exacerbation health concerns, resulting from their air freshening systems. The NTEF has spent extended time in the venues that we recommend to those desirous of a green function. We feel that these venues would be safer alternatives for those who are adversely affected by fragrances, chemicals or those who prefer to enjoy functions that are not reminiscent of fragrance emporiums. Our experts and consultants are highly regarded by their colleagues and have toured the venues we recommend. The American Lung Association advises those with asthma to avoid odor-masking chemicals or "air-freshening" A 2004 study showed that 29.7% of those with asthma said air fresheners caused breathing difficulties and 37.2% found scented products irritating. American Association of Poison Control Centers documented 14,000+ calls involving air freshener exposure in 2005 and 2,500+ exposures resulted in injuries of some type. In a 1997 study, emissions of "air fresheners at several concentrations (including concentrations to which many individuals are actually exposed) caused increases in sensory and pulmonary irritation, decreases in airflow velocity, and abnormalities of behavior measured by the functional observational battery score”. Almost 25 years ago the respiratory effects of fragrances were identified, "Effects of Odors on Asthma" in the Journal of the American Medical Association (Shim, Chang, M.D., Williams, M. Henry, Jr., "Effects of Odors on Asthma." The American Journal of Medicine, Volume 80, January 1986, pp. 18-22) which indicated that an alarming 72% of asthmatic attacks are triggered by perfume and cologne. Recently, in Detroit, a city employee was awarded $100,000 in Federal Court over ADA violations for a fragrance accommodation issue. Along with the State of California fining Unilever $1.3 million dollars for air pollution related to Axe Body Spray. For a healthier function and visit to Las Vegas, let the NTEF make your event uneventful. End
