Cristiano Ronaldo scores and Real beats Santander

April 4, 2010 - PRLog -- The usual duet of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuaín made the goals in Real Madrid’s win over Santander at “El Sardinero”, before the super-classic against Barcelona, scheduled for next weekend.

With 23 minutes of play, CR9, the Portuguese international suffered a foul inside the penalty area, which he converted into a goal from the spot, leaving Real Madrid in front.

Just 15 minutes from time, Higuaín received a superb pass from Guti, isolated himself and beat keeper Fabio Coltorti, with Cristiano alongside him calling for the ball. Higuaín has now scored 24 goals in the league, two less than Lionel Messi.

Manuel Pellegrini faces the duel with Barcelona with confidence and does not hesitate to say that Real Madrid “can win” the classic next Saturday in Madrid, thus isolating themselves in the top of the Spanish league.

“Now that the Racing (2-0 win) game is over, we will concentrate on Barcelona. In the first game we had an adverse outcome (losing 0-1), which did not reflect what happened on the field”, said the “Merengues” Chilean coach, who is predicting a difficult clash at home against their Catalan rivals.

”We can not lose our identity. It is a difficult game and I don’t think there is a favorite. Both teams are going through a good moment, with many victories, and in this kind of game the winner is the one that makes fewer errors. We need to recover the points lost at “Camp Nou” and I’m sure we can do it” he added.
