Cristiano Ronaldo on Time magazine’s list of the most influential celebrities of the year

April 5, 2010 - PRLog -- This year, the website of the weekly publication presented a list with 200 names to be voted by the public. Among them are two players from Real Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaká.

Apart from the Portuguese and Brazilian internationals, two other players, Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry are also in the list. Interestingly and strangely, the best footballer in the world for FIFA 2009 and winner the Golden Ball award, Lionel Messi, did not make the list.

Cristiano Ronaldo the Portugal captain and the worlds best paid footballer, stands next to world figures such as Presidents Barack Obama, Nicolas Sarkozy, Lula da Silva, the president of FIFA, Joseph Blatter, Sarah Palin or entertainment celebrities like the eccentric pop singer Lady Gaga, TV stand-up comedians Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno as well as “Britain’s Got Talent” big surprise, Susan Boyle. Controversial Presidents Hugo Chavez and Muammar Qaddafi are also in, as well as Bill and Melinda Gates.

Time magazine has the following description about Cristiano Ronaldo; “The flashy Real Madrid striker is the world’s highest paid footballer. As darkly handsome as a pantomime villain, he is loved and loathed in equal measure by fans. But no one would deny that his ability to dribble through the world’s best defenses is astonishing”.

Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Serena Williams also appear in the list of American magazine as celebrity candidates that were the most influential in the world.

The list can be found at the Time magazine website and will depend on the popular vote to reduce the final list to 100 people.
