Follow on Google News | Library Expo Reaches Students & Adults in Northwest MinnesotaWilliam Weaver's Writer's Workshops were well-attended by students and adults, live in Hallock, Minnesota and remote by phone and Blog Talk Radio.
By: Northwest Regional Library Weaver, a Bemidji resident, started in the morning at the public school, progressed to the library for a segment on, “Writing Life Into Fiction,” and ended the day at the city hall for a public event entitled, “What’s Your Story?” William has a recent book series geared toward getting "reluctant" boys into reading, features race tracks. He demonstrated his passion for this goal by choosing to spend his “free” hour in the afternoon volunteering in a classroom of 9th grade literature students. The author’s assistant for the day, Kay Rosengren, noted a great reception of both his presentation and books with the middle-school kids and was also pleased to see that high school students interested in his literature or writing attended the program. One student, who works on the school newspaper, was honored to interview the best selling author. The evening programs were well attended by local and remote audiences attending live in Hallock, by phone or online at Blog Talk Radio. The archived recordings are now available for instant download from http://www.LibraryExpo.com, so anyone can enjoy the training anytime. Weaver’s visit to Hallock launches the Northwest Regional Library 2010 Spring Author Expos, as the first of seven authors to visit seven libraries over a seven week period. Full details and media one-sheets are available at http://www.NWRLib.org. The project was funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on 11/4/08 which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage. Sponsored by the NW Regional Library and hosted by the Hallock Public Library. # # # The Northwest Regional Library consists of seven libraries in seven rural northern Minnesota communities including Greenbush, Hallock, Red Lake Falls, Roseau, Thief River Falls, Warren and Warroad.
