Orlando Hispanic Film Festival Ends Today

April 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Standard Entertainment Inc. is announcing that it will cease operations of the Orlando Hispanic Film Festival  (OHFF) due to lack of local financial support. Producer of the once annual event James Schoepflin says, “We built a great world class Latino event for the city of Orlando that just did not catch on with local corporate sponsors or the city”. The OHFF was the only competitive Latino film festival in the entire state of Florida. New independent films were submitted into the festival competition and came from various countries of the from around the world, such from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, UK, USA and Venezuela. Films selected were generally in English or subtitled in English. Films were juried and awards were given in several categories for international recognition and potential distribution deals.

“The past three years were incredible. We grew the festival to triple the attendance of year one, quadrupled countries year three and had incredible films that could not be seen anywhere in Florida. However it has become too big for a handful of volunteers spending countless hours to create this world class event without local financial support”, says Schoepflin.  The OHFF collaborated with many local entities and worked closely with the community bringing year round free workshops and special events to the general public. “I am so happy that we sat down and created a beautiful event which allowed filmmakers to showcase their films in Orlando and had a great time too.
