Ronaldo vs Messi in Spanish League Classic

Real Madrid and Barcelona face each other in the Santigo Bernabéu Stadium on Saturday in what is dubbed as the “game of the year”.

April 10, 2010 - PRLog -- The merengues, playing before their home crowd will want to avenge the 1-0 defeat against their rivals, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring the only goal on that game. For saturday's “clásico”, the Catalans can not count on the Swedish forward, representing a big loss in the Barcelona attack.

Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal and the Argentine Lionel Messi have all the ingredients to become the heroes of the Real Madrid-Barcelona duel, not just because they are the stars of both clubs, but also because the other great players of their teams. Kaká and Ibrahimovic will miss the classic today, due to injury.

On the other hand, the central defender Piqué is back in the Catalan squad after the forced absence against Arsenal, while on the Real Madrid side, Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso are back after serving punishment against Racing Santander.

But what most people are interested in, is the duel between the two best players in the world at the moment, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, with the latter in really fantastic form and surely headed for his second “FIFA best player of the year” award.

Confirmation of the absence of the Brazilian and the Swede only emerged yesterday. “Ibra” (scorer of the only goal of Barcelona’s 1-0 win in the first round) and Kaká (who played a fantastic game for Real at Camp Nou) will miss the “game of the year” at the Bernabeu Stadium (starting at 21:00 GMT) where the lead for the Spanish league will be in dispute.

Both teams have 77 points (the highest amount of points in the history of “La Liga” after 30 matches) and tied in goal difference (83-26 for Real and 75-19 for Barcelona). However, the Catalans have an advantage in direct confrontation because of their triumph in the first round.
For that reason, the Real coach, Manuel Pellegrini hopes to see an open game. While admitting that Barca are going through a great moment, “a draw would be a bad result” he shows himself without fear, “Barca does not cause us any fear”.

On the other side, Pep Guardiola, says the game "is not a final, but we must face it as if it were". "I want us to leave a good image and to be brave", added the Catalan coach.
