JW Marriott Cancun & CasaMagna Marriott Cancun ~ Supports Environmental Awareness Month

April 21, 2010 - PRLog -- As a resort destination the most valuable asset to Hotels in Cancun is a healthy ecological environment. In combination with the corporate culture to preserve and care, the acknowledgement of the importance of a healthy environment a strong motivation, to operate sustainable is created.

The JW Marriott Cancun Resort and Spa and the Casa Magna Marriott participate in various activities and programs to help preserve the environment and show that Marriott International is a social responsible organization.

BIO- Diesel program : Every month approximately 2,000 liters of used vegetable oil are produced by the operations in the kitchens of both hotels. In order to avoid contamination of the marine and floral ecosystems and to avoid the reusing of this oil on the black market, this oil is collected and recycled to produce Bio-diesel. This Bio-diesel saves up to 95% of the emission of CO2 gases in comparison to conventional Diesel produced from fossil fuels.

Recycling : In order to reduce the waste production the different departments of both hotels separate their litter, and dispose of it in the appointed areas within both properties. This allows for a recycling process to start, instead of allowing for valuable resources to be lost in a dumb.

Reserve Osmosis Water treatment Plant : In order to reduce the consumption and waste of resources this resorts have implement the  use of a reverse osmosis system for its operation, which uses ground water to produce clean portable water for the JW Marriott hotel in Cancun with a maximum capacity of 900 cubic meters a day.

Sea turtles Conservation Program: Easier to see and recognize are the results from the education of associates how to care for the sea-turtles of Cancun. Every year between May and August the sea turtles that were born on the beaches of Cancun return to this coast to build their nests in our beach front, and our associates were trained by the local authorities to keep them safe up until they hatch. This program have being very successful and our properties have being recognized by the Secretary of Ecologic affairs from the local government as the best hotels on the entire Cancun hotel zone when it comes to sea-turtle conservation.

Environmental and Social Responsible activities : The Marriott hotels Cancun properties develop through out the entire year a countless number of activities related to the local community such as cleaning of beaches, contests of artwork from recycled material and supporting education and childcare associations.

Earth Hour Initiative :Last March 27  the Marriott hotels Cancun successfully participated at the event of the Earth Hour 2010. In order to promote the engagement of the Marriott hotels Cancun and the Marriott chain, a candle light ceremony during the Earth Hour was organized in the garden of the JW Marriott Cancun. With this event, it was demonstrated to local people as much as guests, how important  the preservation of the environment is to Marriott International.
