April 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, Calif - As bullets whiz across the screen, men and women of violence engage in lies, deceptions, and  duplicities , battling each other for fortune and fame. Beautiful seductive women lure and are lured into the arms of men seeking access to their souls.  Moguls driven solely by greed and testosterone, seek to further enlarge their holdings. Amidst the intrigue and other drama, a pastor and his congregation seek to salvage souls and their community through the power of faith and prayer.  When Sid Burston’s Get Thee Behind Me: The T.V. Series comes to Times Warner Cable Television’s Faith On Demand beginning  Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 8:00 p.m., audiences will initially feel confused as characters reminiscent of those from The Sopranos, The Godfather, and other classic mob-themed shows do what gangsters do – steal, rob, murder, cheat, while living a life that violates every single guideline for living embodied in each of the world’s major religions.

Interwoven into these tastefully rendered themes of lust, violence, greed and other fragilities is this dramatic television show’s primary query, “Is redemption possible for those who have strayed so very far from the laws of society and, even more importantly, the laws of God?”  Colorful characters such as Grace (Sharon King), an aging femme fatale who is a hit woman disguised as a highly comedic maid; Sister Exotica (BarbieQ), an ex-stripper transvestite who lives in the shadow of her former beauty; the kindly, eccentric choir director and church elder, Deacon Smalls (Raymond Ellis); and, the stereotypical, gossipy Sisters of the church, Doris (Heather Ann Smith) and Trudy (Donna Crockett), add comedic elements to this dramatic series.

Likewise, with original jazz, blues, pop, R&B, gospel, rock, and folk music performed live in selected scenes, Get The Behind Me: The T.V. Series is, at times, reminiscent of a Broadway musical. The dramatic gifts of actors such as Bill Porter, who plays Italian mob boss Vidal Mano, and Mike Zehr as Pia, Vidal’s  father and senior advisor, quickly reinforces the notion that Get Thee Behind Me: The T.V. Series is, indeed, a drama.

This plot-driven series includes a cast of more than 75 talented and experienced actors. Sid Burston, the show’s Executive Producer, Senior Writer, Director, and major antagonist (Crowne Royale), also wrote the majority of the three to four original songs that are performed in each episode. Veteran actor, Fitz Houston who co-directed and produced the series, also stars in the series as Pastor Ruford Royale, a pastor and community leader whose son is one of the crime lords. Other cast members include:  Adele Royale (E fé); J.B. Royale (Jonathan Mosley-Perry); Remy Royale (Kim Patrick); Grieva (Met Salih); Mayor Francis LaRue (Dan Leech); Janelle Mitchell (Jahna Houston); David (Robert McGillivray); Detective Matt Mitchell (Dawson Van Pelt); Detective Aaron O’Neal (Thomas Haley);  Pela (Andy Brosseau); Claudine (Lia Grant); Max Calloway (Joon Lee); Anastasia (Aggie Owens); Butterfly (Nei-Ce Knight-Preuitt); Yi (Lisa Cullen) Miss Woods (Monalisa Okojie); and others.

This television series also sets itself apart from other series by publishing a series of novellas that will provide the back stories of favorite characters.  Additionally, multiple show soundtracks on CD of all original music will be available for purchase after the series’ premiere.  Sid Burston’s Get Thee Behind Me: The T.V. Series is free to all Time Warner subscribers in 36 cities nationwide beginning Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. on Time Warner Faith on Demand. (It can be accessed by pressing the Access button [or channel 1] on your cable remote – click Video On Demand [VOD] then search for Find It On Demand and click on Faith On Demand).  Get Thee Behind Me will appear on the list of Faith programming.
