Follow on Google News | Mosaic Harmony Director David North to appear on Black Bag Productions' Blog Talk Radio ShowMosaic Harmony, an interfaith, multicultural community choir, is pleased to announce that director David North, assistant director Laura Schanes Romstedt and board president Kala Payne discuss their spring 2010 concerts on Blog Talk Radio.
By: Kim Moss North, who previously appeared on the show in early January of this year discussing the House of Jam Band, “This time I will talk specifically about my second musical family, Mosaic Harmony" noted North, and bring along assistant director Laura Schanes Romstedt who has been a principal soloist and member of the soprano section in the choir for nearly 17 years. "The spring concert never gets old, it’s always a lot of fun for us and we really do enjoy preparing for it as much as performing," The spring concert features a compilation of songs ranging from traditional and contemporary African-American gospel to music written by their dynamic and talented director, is the highlight of the choral season and is its largest fundraising effort each year. The theme of “One Humankind” is the title of the latest song added to the choir’s repertoire and speaks directly to its mission of unifying the world one song at a time. “In the wake of the Haiti earthquake and aftershocks, difficult wars in two countries, economic distress for families and companies, we believe that the message of one humankind is needed more than ever”, said North, who wrote the song specifically for Mosaic Harmony to perform. The concerts are high-energy, inspiring performances that leave audiences feeling uplifted and encouraged. Bringing together people of diverse cultures, ages, backgrounds, and more than 17 faith traditions to celebrate humanity is Mosaic Harmony’s vision to be a source of inspiration on a local, national, and global level. Performances have provided encouragement and hope to families in hospice care, residents of mental health facilities, residents living in retirement communities, and to the public for 17 years. The choir’s season began in September with its most recent performance for the patients and staff Manor Care of Bethesda on April 25, 2010. Sponsorship opportunities and ticket sales for the May concert are available online. Tickets are available for $20 per person, with kids under 12 free and can be purchased online through Eventbrite or at the choir's website or by writing to tickets@mosaicharmony.org.
