Follow on Google News | Main Line Private School Seniors Named Finalists In National Merit Scholarship ProgramNine Devon Prep seniors were named finalists.
These young men are among 15,000 Finalists across the United States eligible to win one of the 8,200 available Merit Scholarships. In addition to being National Merit Finalists all of these young men are also Distinguished Honor students, members of the National Honor Society, and AP Scholars with Distinction. Lawrence and Howard are also National AP Scholars. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and scholarships that is open to all US high school students who meet published entry requirements. More than 1.4 million students in over 21,000 U.S. high schools entered the 2010 National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Devon Prep’s nine Finalists were among the highest-scoring entrants in Pennsylvania. For more than 50 years the Piarist Fathers have conducted Devon Prep, a private, Catholic, college preparatory school for young men in grades 6 to 12. The school is located on a 20 acre campus on the Main Line and enrolls nearly 300 students who hail from Chester, Delaware, Montgomery counties as well as parts of Philadelphia.
