Connecticut Eye Center Welcomes New Specialist

April 28, 2010 - PRLog -- WEST HARTFORD, CT:  The Connecticut Eye Center now welcomes all contact lens wearers. Mr. Rivard specializes in difficult lens fitting and previous contact lens failures Free consultations are available to anyone who has had difficulty wearing contact lenses in the past. He designs and fits both rigid and soft contact lenses for unique medical conditions including but not limited to:

•   Dry eye
•   Corneal transplant
•   Pediatric contact lens fitting
•   Bifocals
•   Extreme near-sightedness or far-sightedness
•   Iris irregularities or traumatic injuries
•   Post cataract surgery
•   Corneal Refractive Therapy (correcting nearsightedness while you sleep)

As a second generation optician, Mr. Rivard’s extensive credentials include Founding Member and Past President of the New England Contact Lens Society, past President of the Connecticut Optician’s Association and the Contact Lens Society of Connecticut and past Vice Chair and Commissioner of the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation. He is an Honored Fellow of the Contact Lens Society of America, the Opticians Association of America and the National Academy of Opticianry. He is certified as a Master in Ophthalmic Optics and has held faculty positions at medical schools, colleges and teaching hospitals throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. He was Director of Technical Services of University Contact Lens Services, located at Yale University School of Medicine. He has contributed to numerous books and designed optical curriculums for a number of colleges. He’s received multiple awards and merits for his contributions to opticianry education. Currently Mr. Rivard is a full-time professor of Opticianry and Executive Director of the Connecticut Opticians Association. He has authored many professional journal articles and lectures throughout the country.
