Not all businesses in Arizona are looking at a boycott of the state over the newly passed immigration law SB 1070 as a bad thing. At least one business owner in Phoenix feels that there may be a rise in customers for smaller companies that have no intention on moving out of state as a result of the new law.

"If a business pulls out of Arizona or refuses to move to our state because of the new immigration law, it means less competition in the marketplace for local businesses. A boycott of our state might be a good for small businesses that are struggling because the demand for their services will be higher. Every cloud indeed has a silver lining, " said Nohl Rosen of Panther TEK which does computer troubleshooting and repair for residential and small business customers throughout the Phoenix metro area.

Rosen says he supports SB 1070 because the new law may force more businesses to take a closer look at who they hire, especially when provided documentation. Phoenix is the top city in the country for identity theft crimes and illegal immigration has played a large role. Identity theft is also the #1 crime in the country and often the victim doesn't know their information is stolen until it's too late.

"I'm often educating my customers about identity theft because it's a serious crime and also one of opportunity. As a computer technician I often times have access to their data.  It's important to educate them on identity theft and what to look for, because it only takes one dishonest person that has access to their system to steal their documents. Most people are unaware just how easy it would be for someone who has access to their system to steal their data and their identity," Rosen said.

While there is already an employer sanction law in Arizona, SB 1070 could push dishonest businesses to close their doors or force them out of state. The end result could mean that honest small business owners that play by the rules could see an increase in traffic to their doors. Rosen says he wishes the media would start talking to the supporters of SB 1070.

"I read the law and it doesn't mention any race, culture or even that there'd be racial profiling The media needs to recognize that there are two sides to this debate and start talking to those who support the new immigration law because they have a right to be heard," Rosen added.
