May 3, 2010 - PRLog -- (Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey May 3, 2010) Following the enormous success of The Original Latin Kings of Comedy, the acclaimed Latin Divas of Comedy is now touring throughout the United States. Originally a stand-up comedy special on the Showtime Network, the Latin Divas of Comedy has created a cult following with its hilarious all Latina cast. Latin Divas of Comedy features Hot Tamales Live comedienne Kiki Melendez; Latin Divas of Comedy’s own “New Yorican" Sara Contreras; Miami Cubana Monique
Marvez; and Tejana Sandra Valls. With a special nod to the Latino audience, this incredible night reaches across all cultures to bring even the most varied audience into one big belly laugh…and it’s in English!

Produced in association with Scott Montoya, one of the most respected and well known comedy producers in the country, Latin Divas of Comedy is guaranteed to be the spiciest dish on the comedy circuit today.

Meet The Latin Divas:

Sandra Valls - Being a stand-up comedian isn’t easy. Being a woman of Hispanic descent doesn’t help either in the “funny” world. And being a Latina LESBIAN comedienne, well, that speaks for itself! Now living in Los Angeles, Valls has traveled the country, exploring her talents - singing, writing, and, of course, making people laugh. Now, the former singer- she played at her own prom - has found new talents, landing a producing job with a hit show on Latin cable television network Mun2, an offspring of Telemundo. Valls is currently a comic, producer, writer, and on-camera reporter for the show “Off the Roof” which covers entertainment and special human interests stories on Latinos. Sandra Valls, has been featured on shows such as “Comic View”, “The
Latino Laugh Festival”, “HBO Latino”, and “Que Locos!”

Sara Contreras - Sara’s star started its rise in 1995, as a semifinalist at the "Funniest Teacher" contest at Stand-Up N.Y. By 1997 she'd been chosen to represent New York at the Latino Laugh Festival in San Antonio, the first East Coast Latina to achieve that spot. She's since performed at many top comedy clubs, colleges, and private venues across the country. Her television credits include Comedy Central's "Comic Groove," ABC's "The View," Metrochannel's "New Joke City," A&E's "American Comedy: What's So Funny?" SITV's "Funny is Funny" and "The Show," and TC Network's "Que Loco." She's a founding member of the comedy troupe, "Sisters Doing Comedy.”

Monique Marvez - Monique has been featured in the Montreal Comedy Festival, “The Just For Laughs” sets and riotous segments on “Real Sex.” As a comedian, she has been featured as a guest on Montel Williams, a spokesperson on “Sexy vs. Sleazy” on Talk Soup and the hostess of Penthouse Magazine’s 25th Anniversary Special - (she was dressed, only the jokes were naked). She also appeared on KABC’s “Laughing Out Loud” as well as two episodes of Comedy Central’s Comics “On Delivery.” Her one woman show, “Loca Motive” at Luna Park attracted Barry Diller’s Silver King Broadcasting. He soon tapped Ms. Marvez to host her own show “Monique Over Miami” and “Lady Zings the Blues.” Monique hosts her own radio show on JACK FM
every afternoon and is the number one show in her demographic.

Kiki Melendez – Kiki is an actress, writer, producer, host and creator of Kiki Melendez' Hot Tamales Live! – a critically acclaimed special that aired on Showtime Networks in 2009. She is also known for her work as host of Galavision Network’s Kiki desde Hollywood, America’s first bilingual variety show. Melendez has also held Hollywood reporting positions with the British Broadcasting Company and other international media outlets.
