In recognition, Courtesy Chevrolet and KTAR will give away a new Camaro to 1 of the 45 Community Champions on the anniversary of the 1-year launch of the Chevrolet Camaro.
By: Paul Thompson, 72 Advertising, Inc. The public is invited to attend and show recognition to these outstanding citizens. For all who take part, food and beverages will be provided. Courtesy Chevrolet has co-sponsored the weekly KTAR Community Champion award over this past year. This award honors notable community members who give in unlimited ways to make the Valley of the Sun a great place to live. They have been commended with the award because of their positive actions, compassion and the difference they make in the community. May 20, 2010, also marks the one-year launch anniversary of the popular Chevrolet Camaro. It’s a 21st-century sports car with a distinctly American legacy. When first launched, Courtesy’s showroom was filled with people as the dealership auctioned off the first Camaro. Over the past year, Courtesy has become the No. 1 Camaro dealer in the state. “We wanted to give something back to the people in the Phoenix community,” said Scott Gruwell, sales director at Courtesy Chevrolet and member of the Gruwell family, owners and operators of Courtesy Chevrolet. “The Community Champions have worked so hard to go the extra mile for their community. They are amazing people and I hope the winner gets a lot of fun out of their new Chevy Camaro.” In addition to the giveaway of the Camaro during the May 20 event, Courtesy Chevrolet will also select one person to win an Apple iPad. The Apple iPad is the latest in touchpad tablet technology, and includes a revolutionary 9.7-inch touch screen. Entries will continue to be accepted on the Courtesy website until the drawing date. To enter, visit www.CourtesyChev.com and click on the link. All contestants must be present at the event in order to win. The Camaro will be the second vehicle that Courtesy Chevrolet has donated to a Community Champion this year. The first was a 2007 Chevrolet Colbalt, given in February to Chalise Taylor, widow of Lance Taylor. Lance was the victim of a fatal shooting while trying to stop an attempted theft. The Courtesy Chevrolet staff was moved to take action and surprised Chalise with the car during a fundraiser car wash. “Courtesy stepped up and gave a ton of goodwill in the face of adversity,” said Arizona resident Rich Beermann. “All I can say is ‘Wow!’ ” Courtesy Chevrolet is a locally owned Chevrolet dealership.
