Children’s Folksinger Celebrates Mother’s Day With A Free Song For Inspirational Women

May 7, 2010 - PRLog -- On Mother’s Day, many people pause to give thanks to moms, grandmoms and other women who have played that special role in their lives.   To celebrate Mother’s Day, Children’s Folksinger, DARIA (Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou) is offering a free download of an original song called:  Thanks to You. This song is part of the musician’s monthly Free Song Page on her Parent’s Choice Award-Winning website, www.dariamusic.com that also offers activities, contests and other resources for parents, teachers, homeschoolers and kids of all abilities.    

Says Daria:  “I wrote Thanks To You for a woman who was like a grandma to me.  At a very difficult time in my life, she made me feel like I was someone special and that I could make a difference in the world.  I like to think of this holiday as a way to honor all the women who have mothered us during our lives.”  


Along with the Mother’s Day song, Daria offers another free download for Spring:  “Be Kind To Your Web-Footed Friends”.  Funny, silly and with a new added verse, this song comes from Daria’s 2009 cd release - Grandchildren’s Delight. Grandchildren’s Delight was recorded in 2008 and 2009 and features best-loved songs from the good old days.  Says Daria: “ I paid careful attention to to include the songs that grandparents liked best from my live shows”.  In addition to favorite tunes like You Are My Sunshine and This Little Light Of Mine, Daria also recorded the cd using many old–timey instruments such as dulcimer, washboard and spoons along with guitar, piano, accordian and fiddle.  A 2009 Parents Choice Award-winner, this cd was also balloted for a Children’s Grammy.
