Norfolk’s young disabled people building Lego wall of Solidarity

Norfolk Coalition of Disabled People’s Youth Forum are raising awareness and funds for this summer’s Disability Pride by building a Lego wall representing solidarity and support in Norfolk.

May 14, 2010 - PRLog -- The group is inviting individuals and companies to ‘buy a brick’ (or two) in their Lego wall and add their name, message or logo in support of NCODP’s Disabled Pride event.

The completed wall will be seen in The Forum, Norwich at Disability Pride on the 5th June, an event which aims to celebrate diversity, the lives of disabled people and reject the negative stereotypes which exist.

The Youth Forum have received support from John Lewis Norwich and Lego themselves, both donating boxes of Lego and Duplo for this unique cause.

Anyone wishing to purchase a brick can contact Caroline Golding, Youth Forum coordinator at NCODP, on 01508 491217 and caroline.golding@ncodp.org.uk or download an order form from http://www.ncodp.org.uk/lego-wall-solidarity.

NCODP’s Youth Forum Lego Wall can also be seen at the Castle Mall, Norwich all day on Thursday 27th May. NCODP will have a stand, located near the information kiosk on the first floor, where members of the public can purchase bricks as well as learn more about Disability Pride and the Youth Forum.
For those attending Disability Pride in June, the wall will be available for them to add their message on the day.

There is still a need for bricks, if any company or individual would like to donate Lego or Duplo bricks to help this unique approach to campaigning and fund raising, they can contact Caroline Golding, Youth Forum coordinator at NCODP on 01508 491217 or caroline.golding@ncodp.org.uk.

The Norfolk Coalition of Disabled People (NCODP) is a human-rights group controlled by disabled people and their organisations. They organise and take part in campaigns and run services that promote social equality and dignity for all disabled people.

The NCODP regards having an impairment as a normal part of being human. Disability results from people with impairments being excluded by physical and social barriers and negative attitudes. Their main task is to challenge the many forms of discrimination created by these barriers and attitudes.

The NCODP believes that disabled people must take the leading role in decisions that affect their lives both locally and as part of the national and international disability movements in which the NCODP plays an active part. There must be “Nothing about us without us.”
