Follow on Google News | Bourbon Viking Completes Her Repairs Successfully In ColomboOffshore Support Vessel Bourn Viking called in for routine drydocking and lay-up repairs during April end March 2010. This offshore support vessel is owned by Bourbon Offshore, one of the biggest offshore fleet owners in the world.
By: Darshana Chandrasekera, Head of Marketing, SR During this call extensive work package was executed, where the vessel had to be accommodated in the Dock No. 04 (125,000 DWT drydock). As the work package consisted of over hauling of the drop down Azimuth thruster, hence special bed preparation was carried out to have adequate clearance underneath the vessel to carry out the work and operational testing. The main scope consisted of routine drydocking related repairs, complete overhaul of Azimuth thruster, complete overhaul of stern and bow thrusters, complete overhaul of two main engines (including injectors, turbochargers, Vibration Dampers overhauling) Yard’s pragmatic and flexible approach was the key to successful completion of this project ahead of schedule meeting the owner’s requirements. The attending Superintendents Mr. Rajiv Tewani & Mr. Ravi Kumar Namuri looked after the owners interests. The repairs were carried out to the classification requirements of Bureau Veritas (BV). Husbanding work for this drydocking call was handled by local agents Mclarens Shipping Ltd. Vessels Particulars: Colombo’s faster turn around time and her strategic location and service quality and flexibility in handling any type of repairs are some of the major aspects that attract many international ship owners to Sri Lanka / Colombo. The shipyard has been fine tuning her service package to meet with the offshore support vessel requirements, dedicating Dock No. 1 & 3.
