Lancaster County Charity Golf Tournament Helps Raise Money for the Fight Against Cancer

May 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Celebration For Life, a Lancaster County non-profit that raises money for cancer patient support services, research and education, proudly announces the arrival of the seventh annual Tee Off for Tom Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, June 4 at Four Seasons Golf Course in Landisville.

For the seventh consecutive year, all proceeds from Tee Off for Tom will help Celebration for Life (C4L) raise money for the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Lancaster County.

Tee Off for Tom was established in 2003 in memory of Lancaster resident Tom McCarty. Following a courageous 44 month battle with colon cancer, McCarty passed away on Father's Day 2003. The first annual 'Tee Off' was scheduled the following September and has been played in McCarty's honor every year since.

For the 2010 charity golf tournament (http://www.c4life.org/tee_for_tom.asp), Celebration for Life and Four Seasons worked together to move the event up to a June 4 start date after six years in September.

"Golf, family and friends played a big part in my father's treatment," said Trudy McCarty Wonder, one of Celebration For Life's board of directors and a co-founder of Tee Off for Tom with her brother, Tom. "It's only fitting that we honor his memory each year by raising money to help others survive cancer, and we have fun doing it. The Tee Off for Tom tournament is a celebration of life."

Tee Off for Tom is a golf scramble tournament with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start on June 4, 2010. Registration for the event begins at 12:00 p.m. A buffet dinner, awards ceremony, and raffle follow the tournament. Cheerleaders from the Philadelphia Eagles will be on hand to take pictures with tournament participants. Tournament participants can also win a classic Porsche 911 Carrera for a hole in one, courtesy of AIC Auto Sales of Quarryville, PA. Other tournament-related prizes will also be available, including $1000 for the approach shot closest to the pin (within 12").

Golfers interested in helping C4L raise money for the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Lancaster County can register for the event online at c4life.org or over the phone through June 3 - cost is $100 per golfer or $360 per foursome. Anyone interested in attending the buffet dinner and raffle only can do so for $30. For golfers, the dinner and auction fee is included in tournament registration. For local businesses, hole sponsorship opportunities are also available.
