How To Wear A Lariat Necklace

June 3, 2010 - PRLog -- So what is a lariat necklace?  Well, it’s an open-ended necklace with no clasp; one long strand that leaves you free to wrap, drape and tie it in any number of styles.   It’s rather like the jewellery equivalent of a scarf as you can treat it and wear it in a very similar way.

The lariat style necklace suits all body shapes and every neckline you can imagine.  So whether you wear it wrapped around several times as a choker or fancy going for something a little longer, it’s happy to be tied in knots!

Here are some of the many ways to wear your lariat necklace.

Choker; wrap around your neck a few times and cross the ends over to secure.  Leave the ends sitting to the side to give it a more asymmetrical look.  This is a great look for a night out.

Once or twice round & ends crossed over: wrap the lariat around your neck then just cross the ends over to create a ‘V’ shape.  You can choose the size of your ‘V’ by adjusting the height of your crossover to match the neckline you’re wearing.  This works as well with shirts for the office as it does with a casual ‘V ‘ neck jumper at the weekend.

Long & knotted:  drape the lariat around your neck and take both ends together and tie in a loose knot at the front.  Again you can choose the height of your knot depending in the style of your outfit.  If you want it a little shorter just wrap it around your neck once and then knot.

Once or twice round & ends free; wrap the lariat around your neck and leave the ends hanging free at either side of your neck.  It’s good to let the ends hang at different heights to add contrast.  This is an easy casual look to dress up a plain top.

Back to front; this looks wonderful with a backless top or dress.  Drape the lariat around your neck with the ends at the back and cross the ends over each other at the top of your neck leaving the ends hanging all the way down your back.  If the back isn’t so low just wrap the lariat around your neck once then cross over or tie as before.  This is definitely the sexiest way to wear your lariat necklace!

Belt:  wear as a belt just wrap around your waist or hips and cross the ends over or tie a knot at the side.  Great to add detail to a plain dress, works particularly well with a maxi dress.  Also looks great on your jeans or trousers in place of a belt, although it’s just for decoration, as it won’t hold them up!

Long & loose: drape the lariat around your neck then just cross the ends over each other rather like the first stage of tying a shoe lace.  This is a very elegant look and works well for a more formal occasion.

Bracelet: just wrap around your wrist lots of times and either cross over the ends or tie in a knot for a casual but extravagantly luxurious way to wear your lariat.
