Arjuna is a large, nearly evergreen tree with whitish bark. It is found in many parts of India from sub-Himalayan regions, through central India to the south and Sri Lanka. This tree is about 60-80 feet in height. The tree of Arjuna is large, evergreen with a spreading crown and drooping branches.

Arjuna is a wonderful herb that helps maintain a healthy heart and reduces the effects of stress and nervousness. Arjuna promotes effective cardiac functioning and regulates blood pressure. It has been the herb of choice in Ayurveda for cardiovascular health. Arjuna's ability to suppress the blood's absorption of lipids indicates that it has cholesterol-regulating properties.
It is also deobstruent, diuretic, expectorant, hemostatic, anti-inflammatory and is an antidote to poisons. It is effective for urinary discharges and anomalies, leucorrhoea and seminal ailments. It is useful for oedema, chronic fever, obesity, general debility, cough, asthma, anemia, tumors, excess thirst, fatigue, dermatosis and other skin diseases. It is excellent for cardiac, circulatory and respiratory disorders and allied complaints. As a tonic it promotes vitality and increases longevity.
Therapeutic use:
•   A decoction of the bark can be taken internally for diarrhea, dysentery, sprue and nausea due to excessive bile secretion.
•   An ointment of the bark made with honey is useful in cases of acne. A paste of the bark is an effective hemostatic for bleeding lesions or hemorrhoids.
•   The fruit is a useful tonic and deobstruent.
•   The juice of the fresh leaves is used for earache and the ash of the plant helps counter the venom from snake bites and scorpion stings.
•   It has remarkable properties of fracture healing .
•   Is a natural source of phytoestrogen. Hence it can be used in osteoporosis, rheumatic arthritis and rheumatic heart disease.
