June 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Everyone who starts to learn guitar or is interested in guitar wants to play lead or riffs on their guitar QUICKLY. Fair enough! It is quite a reasonable demand. But playing a lead riff on your guitar doesn’t come quickly and requires practice, lot of consistency and the right kind of guidance. But who needs guidance anyways? I can play by just listening to the track. Yes good enough, you can certainly do that. But let me ask you something; do you know in which scale or key you are playing? Are you able to utilize the entire fret board or stuck in single position ? Can you play any of the notes in that scale randomly at any position of the fret on any of the string? Can you visualize the scale on the fret board in different patterns? There are many other questions I can ask you related to playing lead guitar. Playing a lead segment is not just listening and reproducing every note on your guitar, there are many other important aspects that you need to know to improvise your lead guitar skills. You must be thinking why I should know all these technical stuff when I just need to play the lead as it is. Yes you can be content with that, but to sound your playing more professional you must know the art of shredding. I have to say that shredding is the back bone of modern rock and heavy metal. If you don’t know shredding then you cannot be called a rock guitarist and neither can you play any lead segments by any popular band or artist perfectly.

Now to tell you my experience, I have been playing guitar for the past one and a half decades and only after I joined a guitar course I came to know about different picking styles, arpeggios and so on. In fact I had scanned the whole internet to learn all these techniques in a professional and structured way for free without investing a penny. But I tell you, it is impossible to get structured and logical guitar lessons for free. So if you are looking for some serious guitar learning, then you must either enroll yourself with a good heavy metal guitar tutor or the easiest and affordable option is to join an online guitar course.

I have benefited from Metal Method by Doug Marks for teaching me all the latest rock and heavy metal techniques and I am immensely thankful to him. You can find my detailed review of Metal Method at http://www.onlineguitarschools.com/metal-method-review.htm
