June 14, 2010 - PRLog -- (TAMPA, FL) -- Tampa resident Dan Molloy today qualified as a Republican candidate for the Florida State Legislature (District 57) to represent Hillsborough County residents living in areas of Tampa, south Tampa, Town & Country, and Westchase.

In announcing his candidacy, Molloy said, "I’m a small-business-oriented conservative who believes that the key to our economic future is to limit the size of government, and limit how much government interferes in our lives and our businesses."

Dan Molloy grew up in Tampa, attended Chamberlain High School, the University of Florida, and the University of Florida law school.  He has practiced law in Tampa for over thirty years, as a judicial clerk, assistant state attorney, assistant county attorney, and the last 25 years in private practice.

"Today in America, at all levels of government, we are dangerously close to the point at which those employed in our bureaucracies, and those taking the entitlements the bureaucracy serves, outnumber the rest of us and have more votes," declared Molloy.

Molloy and his wife Judy have lived in south Tampa for almost thirty years, and have four adult children; two are lawyers, one in medical school, and one close to college graduation. He has served the public as a member of Hillsborough County’s Consumer Protection Board, as a Supervisor of the Parkway Center and Avelar Creek Community Development districts, and as a member of the Hillsborough County Transportation Task Force.  In addition, he has served on the non-profit boards of HomeAid Tampa Bay, which provides facilities to service providers to the homeless, the Florida Home Builders Association, the National Association of Home Builders, and as president of the tri-county Tampa Bay Builders Association.

"We must all be vigilant, especially against increasing or duplicating government programs that appear to advance popular conservative objectives, and against all forms of government interference without compelling need. I hope that you will take an opportunity to visit our web site www.danmolloy.org and examine the policies we have an opportunity to discuss there, all of which further the goal I’ve stated above," Molloy stated.

The Republican primary election for District 57, will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010.
